The visit of my friend Gina from Geneva belongs already to the past. We spend a great week in Flores. I have never imagined that such a small island (or any place) could have soooo many hills, if not mountains. The road from east to west just was so winding you cannot imagine it. We drove maybe 5 km rather straight along the sea side the first day but afterwards up and down and up again, 50% of the curves were between 90 and 180 degrees. We all enjoyed the trip but were nevertheless happy once we arrived at the west end of flores in labuanbajo. There we boarded the ship and went off to the rinca and komodo island. We all were very exited. during our 2 hours trip on rinca island we met a lot of the dragons. It was a great experience, because they or one of them killed a water buffalo some hours ago and there were about 6 of these dragons there and eating the flesh. These creatures are fascinating but also repellent. On komodo island we saw only one old one, all the other 120 were in hiding, what happens - so we were told - more and more. Anyway, we enjoyed the trip and the last day we spent with swimming and snorchling. Hansjoerg was so impressed, according to him he has never seen soooo many fish and shells etc. that he would like to return for a few days diving.
