Going back with our baby

Created by: Suzanna

After a perfect honeymoon here three years ago we are going back with our baby! Lots of help needed. You were all so helpful last time. Anyone travel with a baby? Any helpful hints? Which resort is best? Thank you thank you.

HI Suzanna,

We keep returning to the Palladium because of how ideal it is for our babies. Our daughter came with us when she was four months, and we've just been 7 weeks ago with our 4 month old son and our 20 month daughter.

The Kantenah is a good location, but we much preferred White Sands building 58. This was a short walk with the stroller to all of the resort including the beach. There are no steps or bridges like near Kantenah or Riviera. Kantenah has a few steps on the walks ( not too bad though as we have chosen Kantenah for our Sept trip). The local Walmart stocked all key brands like Pampers, Huggies etc so that helps. We took a travel kettle rather than a steriliser, and boiled the bottles each morning. The restaurants were happy to fill bottles with milk for our one year old.

The minibar in the room has plenty of space for baby bottles. We were starting to wean the four month old, and there was plenty of fresh fruit, yoghurts and vegetables at the buffets. We brought fruit back each day for the children and our one year old was overjoyed with the selection of Haribo on the onsite shop.

The staff were amazing with children and the childrens club is excellent. We stayed with our children last time but Im so confident with the club that I will certainly be leaving them there next time.

We ate early ( 5.30pm) each night and most alacartes were excellent for babies, particulary El Dorado.

We took a portable DVD player which was a really useful device whilst we were in te room.

Key tip - take a mosquito net for the stoller!!! - we always have and our children have never been bitten. You will definately need a sun umbrella for stroller as there is lots of nice walks when your trying to get them to sleep.

Our children really enjoyed it, and the heat didnt bother them at all

Enjoy your trip!

Welcome back Suzanna and congratulations!

I agree with Lin. A suite would be perfect, offering the opportunity for two separate rooms. We always kept our daughter on a regular schedule when traveling inclduing naps. Fortunately, she learned to sleep in a shady spot on the beach at a young age. Sometimes taking them to the room for some quiet time makes for easier meal time.

The suites on the Colonial/Kantenah are on the third floor. I don't know if the third floor would be too challenging with a baby. The suites on the White Sand and Riviera are on all three floors. If you would prefer a Jr. suite (one room with a pullout couch in a sitting area) then those are in buildings 48-51 on Kantenah (close to the beach), 8, 9,20, 21 in Colonial (very central) and interspersed throughout WS and Riviera. Colonial or Kantenah would be easier as there are no bridges but as Lin said if you choose WS or Riviera, there are ways around most bridges.

I would try to get to the ala cartes or buffet early when it is usually quiet and not busy.

Definitely bring a stroller with an umbrella on it, hats, snacks, an inflatable, favorite stuffed animal, favorite sippy cup. Have fun! The staff at the resort are very fond of children and this tends to make your trip more enjoyable.

how old will your baby be??? we went when our son had just turned 2 and we stayed in the riviera section. We loved that section and would stay there again. We found the bridges weren't a bug problem, you can avoid all but one bridge. We stayed in a suite and it was perfect for us as our son is a light sleeper, this way he slept in the "living room" area and we were far enough away not to wake him. We had our own balcony/patio too and we could sit there all night too. We stayed in building 61, 1st floor and found it perfect. We could hop over the railing to get food and drinks from the snack bar, which was close by. the beach, boat dock, pool salt water pool were all very close by. make sure you bring a stroller, floaties for the pool, sand toys(if older),dvd player ( if a bit older, for dinner times), toys, and snacks from home for them. also zip lock bags to put items from the buffet into for them for later on.
